Job Opportunity: Bassoon 3rd Cornet 2nd Trumpet Tuba The New Holland Band New Holland, Pennsylvania Position Type: 1099 Independent Contractor | Concert Band Application Deadline: Ongoing until filled About Us: Founded in 1829, The New Holland Band is the nation's second oldest civilian concert band, located in the heart of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. With a long-standing tradition of musical excellence, we are committed to preserving and performing traditional concert band repertoire for audiences throughout the region. Position Summary: The New Holland Band is seeking a talented and committed musicians to fill a vacancies for Bassoon, 3rd Cornet, 2nd Trumpet, and Tuba. These positions call for an advanced instrumentalist with strong musicianship, excellent technical ability, and a passion for performing classic and contemporary concert band literature. Responsibilities: Perform in regular rehearsals and scheduled performances. Average 15 performances a year. Attend weekly rehearsals. Rehearsals from February through the spring concert in March are on Sunday afternoons. Regular rehearsals start in April and are on Tuesday evenings. Prepare and perform a wide range of concert band repertoire, including marches, overtures, transcriptions, and contemporary works. Collaborate effectively with fellow section members and the ensemble at large. Qualifications: Advanced proficiency on designated instrument including the following repertoire: o Bassoon: Rolling Thunder March, Finale from Symphony No. 4 in F Minor – Tchaikovsky, William Tell Overture o 3rd Cornet: Rolling Thunder March, Light Cavalry Overture, Procession of the Nobles o 2nd Trumpet: Rolling Thunder March, Light Cavalry Overture, Procession of the Nobles o Tuba: The Melody Shop, Holst – First Suite in Eb, Oberon Overture Demonstrated experience in concert band or similar ensemble settings. Strong sight-reading skills and the ability to learn repertoire efficiently. Reliable transportation and commitment to regular rehearsal and performance attendance. Compensation: All performances are compensated except the spring concert in March.
